Photo of the Week – National Day, Budapest

This week's photo is of the Chain Bridge in Budapest.

The flags were flying to celebrate National Day on 15 March. This day celebrates the 1848 Revolution. There was a lot of green, white and red on display as Hungarians proudly celebrated their nation.

Photo of the Week – Statue of Girl playing with her dog, Budapest

This week's photo is another one of those quirky statues that I love. It is of a girl playing with a dog.

This statue is located near the Erzsebet Bridge in Budapest. I do not know the significance of the statue as I could not find any information about it. This does stop me from liking the statue. In the sunlight it gave an impression of relaxation.

Until the next post stay safe, stay healthy and keep smiling.

20

As I sit down in the coffee shop enjoying my mocha latte and muffin it dawned on me that today was the 20th August. It also meant that I have 20 days until I leave for my next trip to the Balkans.

I had always penciled in today for starting my preparations for the trip. I am on a rest day from work. The last three days have been stressful and I feel battered by the whole experience. At least I will not be working any more weekends until after my trip.

There are a few things that need to be done today. The first of these is to get the rucksack out of storage and check for any damage it may have. The last thing I need is for anything to break while I am away.

Next on my to-do list today is to arrange the taxi from Split Airport to the hostel. The hostel said they could arrange something a taxi for a discounted rate. This will be useful. By the time I arrive into Split I will have been travelling for over twelve hours.

Finally today I will be checking for the small items I will need to take. Things like medicine, ear plugs and charger. While not the end of the world if not taken it could cause inconvenience and potential expense.

I have been planning this trip since the new year and it is becoming so close now that I feel excited. For me I am feel enthused about everything after a period of feeling down. I have not enjoyed a break from work since I returned from Vienna in March. The batteries need re-charging. Of course, I look forward to sharing everything with you.

Until the next post stay safe, stay healthy and keep smiling.

Photo of the Week (2) – Birmingham Food Fair

This is a first, I am posting another photo of the week. This photo is of the Food Fair that is taking place in Birmingham.

The fair is being held in Victoria Square in the centre of the city. It began on Wednesday and will run until Monday 26 August. There are plenty of stores offering food from the UK and around the world. There is also a German beer tent. Sadly. I am working this weekend so the earliest I will be able to make it will be next weekend. Hopefully, I will report back to you.

Until the next post stay safe, stay healthy and keep smiling.

Photo of the Week – Stained Glass Window, St. Stephen’s Basilica

This week's photo was taken in St. Stephen's Basilica in Budapest.

It is a stained glass window. This is a running joke in family that I am always taking photos of stained glass windows. To be honest there is a beauty in them and I enjoy taking the photos.

Until the next post (and that could be another stained glass window) stay safe, stay healthy and keep smiling.

August is going to be a quiet month. I will be doing very little as my trip to the Balkans is now only a month away. I did experience some lows in July but I am now over that. As always it is a case of moving forward.

Until the next post stay safe, stay healthy and keep smiling.
